Christian Alvarez

Funk. Some people have it, and some people don't. Christian Alvarez was born with it. The son of a musician/singer, Christian was exposed to a musical background from an early age. Influenced by his Latino father's passion for 70's disco and funk, Christian was introduced to the sweet sounds of KC and the Sunshine Band, Earth Wind and Fire, and music geniuses, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.
Christian's love for travel landed him in the heart of the music world, London England in the summer of 1999. Those few months he spent living there would eventually change his life and inspire him to heights otherwise unimaginable.
Exposed to the culture of clubbin', Christian visited clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Fabric and Heaven, introducing him to the intoxicating sounds of house music. Soulful, funky driving beats once again surfaced, this time with a more intense energy than that remembered as a child. Fascinated by the intense connection between the Deejay's and their vibrant audiences, Christian vowed to purchase a set of turntables upon his arrival back home.
Not knowing the first thing about the art of mixing two records together, Christian began attending local raves studying the techniques of various Deejays. Within a few months he received his first booking for a new club night in Vancouver, Canada and stole the show. Priding himself on technical perfection, he created a signature sound of uplifting, ass shaking house and as a result, started to receive regular bookings.
In March of 2001, Christian signed with British Columbia's largest entertainment company - Twisted Productions. With this opportunity to showcase his talent on a regular basis, Christian soon became on of Vancouver's most likable and sought after Deejays. Known for his trademark sets of energetic disco house, he has received several residencies across BC. He has displayed his talents throughout Western Canada, as well as making his radio debut, what was at the time, Vancouver's premiere electronica show, G-Spot 96.1 FM. For some, the rapid success Christian was receiving may have been more than enough to handle. Yet the positive response and well-deserved praise only motivated Christian to achieve new and greater heights. After just two short years of Djing, Christian found himself fantasizing about making the progression from DJ to Producer.
Fast forward to October 2002. In less than a year after entering the studio, Christian Alvarez has gone from local Deejay in his home of Vancouver to an internationally known house producer. In April of 2002, he received his first contract from Oliver Abbeloos's [AKA Conga Squad / Cmos) Holographic Records based in Belgium. As if receiving the respect from one of disco house's most sought after producers wasn't enough, Christian's 3 track EP entitled, Dancin' Thru the Night soared up several international dance charts. This has drawn the attention of some of the world's most recognized House DJ's, including the likes of Olav Basoski, DJ Antoine, Oliver Abbeloos, Dave Armstrong and Dj Vitamin D, who have all found a place for this sizzling piece of wax in their record boxes. To promote his record, Christian made his television debut appearing as a guest DJ on MTV Canada's, Select.
With upcoming remixes, and more original production planned, the sky is the limit for one of House music's most skilled young rising stars. Through hard work, dedication and God given talent, Christian Alvarez plans on making an even bigger name for himself over the years and hopes his name is one that you will be hearing for a very long time to come.
